I started this a couple of weeks ago. So far I have pretty well completed the chassis. I intend for the model to be painted candy apple red and have gotten the body prepped and the base coat of gold metallic on. I hope to get the first coat of candy on today weather permitting. More to follow.

That gold base could be the main color! Can't wait to see it in candy!
Love the chassis too John! Looks like a great kit!

Too cold and too much wind to try the candy today. Hopefully this front will blow through and I can get the first coat on tomorrow. Thanks for the good comments guys.

Still cold, but the wind died down today and I got the first two coats of candy on the coupe. Thought it turned out pretty good for a first try at candy. I'll let it dry for a few days and then get another coat on it.

Did it again, posted the same photo twice. Here is the one I meant to post. Being outdoors shows the candy effect better.

Got the interior done today. When I saw this photo I noticed that I have failed to completely smooth the steering wheel. I'll pull it out tomorrow and fix it. Also, what looks like a red mark on the top of the door panel is actually not there, must have been something on the lens. ERROR, ERROR, ERROR!! I managed to screw up the front end of the chassis. Instead of stopping and figuring out what I did I just kept going and made it worse. Today I decided to go back and figure out what went wrong. I did get it figured out and will be fixing it. Unfortunately, this means a complete rebuild of the frame and running gear. I made a few calls and managed to come up with another 40 Coupe so I have the parts. I will be getting on that beginning tomorrow so it will be a few days before there is any "progress" to report. I did learn a valuable lesson from this, SLOW DOWN!!

You're right....that's indeed a valuable lesson! I've been bitten by the "Hurry" monster too many times!
Good luck on the "do over"!

John don't feel to bad. I'm a good one for not looking at the directions and has bitten me before also. When it says page 1-2-3 thats the way to put it together. I put it together the way I want and sometimes parts are supposed to go on before the ones I already put on. DUH. Eddie.
